Caught this on TV again while stuck in Sydney for work: as always, it had me at "Horse & Hound".

Still probably my favourite rom-com, unusual in being more of a fantasy for the male lead than the female one: famous movie star Anna Scott (Julia Roberts) stops into the London bookshop of diffident Will (Hugh Grant). Most rom-coms where the man is lower-status tend to trade on humiliation or misogyny, but this one is much more pleasant. Both leads feel like well-rounded, independent people and their relationship at least somewhat plausible. I particularly like the characterisation of Will's friends and family.
But seeing Lord Hightower as Spike again makes it impossible to take House of the Dragon seriously.
Still my favourite romantic comedy, though it drags in parts; that line about "a girl standing in front of a boy" gets worse every time I hear it. The first half, though, is just about perfect. I've already seen it half a dozen times and will undoubtedly see it dozens more; I'm not at all unhappy at the thought.
