Film Illiterate, wherein the proprietor records movies seen, and sporadic progress through assorted lists of the "best". Originally started after regretfully renting something forgettable for the third time. I've forgotten what, but never again! A tedious endeavour since 2005. Hello. 🙂
Veronica (Winona Ryder), dissatisfied with the practiced cruelty of her queen-bee clique, falls in with J.D. (a sleazy Christian Slater), not realizing that his nonconformism extends to murder. Soon, the popular Heathers begin dropping like flies.
This is a very strange film, but does work on multiple levels, particularly as a skewering of cliquish school life and as coming of age story about self-determination. Everyone is pretty good, though I cannot imagine why Christian Slater was ever anyone's heartthrob; some of the 80s stylings are also embarrassingly dated (two words: shoulder pads).
