Film Illiterate, wherein the proprietor records movies seen, and sporadic progress through assorted lists of the "best". Originally started after regretfully renting something forgettable for the third time. I've forgotten what, but never again! A tedious endeavour since 2005. Hello. 🙂
Max Cady (Robert De Niro), a convicted rapist released after 14 years behind bars, stalks his former defense lawyer Sam Bowden (Nick Nolte). A remake of the 1961 film of the same name.
An overtly manipulative thriller that feels like a throwback, in part because of its intrusive score (apparently copying Bernard Herrmann's from the original film). De Niro is terrifying, though, and this must have been one of the last films where he really tried to stretch instead of channeling some degree of Italian-American mobster.
