Film Illiterate, wherein the proprietor records movies seen, and sporadic progress through assorted lists of the "best". Originally started after regretfully renting something forgettable for the third time. I've forgotten what, but never again! A tedious endeavour since 2005. Hello. 🙂
The 6th Terminator film returns creative control to James Cameron, who proceeds to ignore everything which has occurred in the franchise since 1991: Dark Fate picks up directly after the events of Terminator 2: Judgement Day.
I think it suffices to say that this film is, essentially, this franchise's The Force Awakens: a workable but troubling mix of rehash (the story is almost exactly the same as that of Terminator 2) and painful fanservice (Linda Hamilton's Sarah Connor has become a killing machine; Arnie's Terminator is now essentially a puppy).
It's actually not too bad and deserved better than the financial failure it got. The action is pretty spectacular, particularly the first chase sequence, and Gabriel Luna's REV-9 is appropriately menacing. It's genuinely a lot of fun -- if you can ignore the way you're being pandered to.
