Film Illiterate, wherein the proprietor records movies seen, and sporadic progress through assorted lists of the "best". Originally started after regretfully renting something forgettable for the third time. I've forgotten what, but never again! A tedious endeavour since 2005. Hello. 🙂
Marvellous political comedy of ignorance Forrest Gump about two teen girls who, when they take a wrong turn while trying to win a post a love letter to Ricky Nelson, stumble across the Watergate burglars. The pair become involved with Nixon (Dan Hedaya), who appoints them as official presidential dog-walkers to keep them close. Eventually, inspired by Betsy's (Kirsten Dunst) older brother's adventures with pornography, Deep Throat is born in a prank call to two nosy reporters.
It's part parody of All the President's Men, with Will Ferrell and Bruce McCulloch hamming it up as Woodward and Bernstein, resoundingly unimpressed with the identity of their informants; it's part teen-romance, with Arlene (Michelle Williams) somehow developing a crush on Nixon ("I love Dick!"). Mostly, it's a comedy about the 1970s, with a myriad loving period details.
Underrated and well worth seeing.
