Film Illiterate, wherein the proprietor records movies seen, and sporadic progress through assorted lists of the "best". Originally started after regretfully renting something forgettable for the third time. I've forgotten what, but never again! A tedious endeavour since 2005. Hello. 🙂
Alison (Katherine Heigl) gets a big promotion, gets drunk, and gets pregnant: the father is Ben Stone (Seth Rogen), whose only job is getting high and working with his stoner housemates on their semi-pornographic website.
It's easy to read as misogyny -- nagging women trying to change their fun-loving men, etc. -- but I think it's a subtler take on gender stereotypes than that. Ben forces himself to grow up so he's good enough for Alison; she is willing to let him go.
Perhaps too much of the humour derives from the stoners acting like brain-damaged teenagers, but it's consistently amusing in a light, observational way. Not "the laugh-out-loud hit of the summer!" or whatever: more of an unassuming chuckle-under-your-breath-when-you're-not-mortified.
Worth a look.
