Film Illiterate, wherein the proprietor records movies seen, and sporadic progress through assorted lists of the "best". Originally started after regretfully renting something forgettable for the third time. I've forgotten what, but never again! A tedious endeavour since 2005. Hello. 🙂
Officers aboard the USS Caine resort to mutiny over the increasingly unhinged behaviour of their new commander, Philip Francis Queeg (Humphrey Bogart). Dated and ineffective in its portrayal of shipboard life, the dialogue still shines, particularly when it turns courtroom drama (both in the second half's court martial and the inquiry into strawberries).
Bogart is great, just the right side of unhinged, and the script is a thought-provoking take on organisational dynamics. While nominally specific to wartime, its take on the relationship between management and workers is more widely applicable.
