Film Illiterate, wherein the proprietor records movies seen, and sporadic progress through assorted lists of the "best". Originally started after regretfully renting something forgettable for the third time. I've forgotten what, but never again! A tedious endeavour since 2005. Hello. 🙂

The problem with This Island Earth is not that special effects which must have been mesmerising in 1955 are so primitive today, it's that it's essentially an action-thriller, more space opera than fiction of ideas. It's everything else about this thriller that's laughably primitive, from its "twist" to its dialogue, and without action spectacular to hold interest there is very little left.
