Claustrophobic
The director's cut is three and a half hours long, and I wouldn't cut a single minute.
The conclusion cheapened it a little though, I thought. It made the destination, rather than the journey, the point; so instead of an amazing three-hour window into a claustrophobic hell we were left with three hours of build-up to a bitterly ironic punchline.
But, despite that, it was outstanding. Nerve-wracking, poignant, informative -- just brilliant.
