Film Illiterate, wherein the proprietor records movies seen, and sporadic progress through assorted lists of the "best". Originally started after regretfully renting something forgettable for the third time. I've forgotten what, but never again! A tedious endeavour since 2005. Hello. 🙂
Appropriately enough, the real star of this entertaining police procedural is New York city, including a large number of scenes filmed on the street (supposedly via secret cameras) and in real businesses. The plot is fine, but it's this gorgeous black-and-white time capsule that holds attention today. Several of the performances are dreadful, but it's all held together by the charm of Lt. Dan Muldoon (Barry Fitzgerald), who gets some great lines.
