Film Illiterate, wherein the proprietor records movies seen, and sporadic progress through assorted lists of the "best". Originally started after regretfully renting something forgettable for the third time. I've forgotten what, but never again! A tedious endeavour since 2005. Hello. 🙂
THERE IS ANOTHER SYSTEM
Good to watch in the wake of WarGames, touching as it does on the same theme of "Oh my god! Maybe we shouldn't have put a computer in control of all our weapons after all!" In this case, the newly-activated Colossus discovers that "THERE IS ANOTHER SYSTEM": Guardian, its Russian counterpart. The two begin to communicate, and decide that, all things being equal, it could do a better job of running things than the little humans.
It's dated and unremarkable, save for its outstanding sound design. But, at least, unlike WarGames, which wrapped a Cold War morality play in technology and pterodactyls, Colossus is actually science fiction, and better than the space fantasy that tends to pass for it these days. For that it's worth seeing.
