Amusing parody of Top Gun, written and directed by Jim Abrahams, best known as one third of the Zucker-Abrahams-Zucker partnership that gave us Flying High and The Naked Gun. If you've seen either of those movies then you know what to expect. (And if not, why not? Philistine.)
It's not quite as good, of course, but it has its moments: sometimes stupid, often silly, but occasionally genius. It's too uneven to be great, but there are enough laughs -- most notably from the explicit parody-scenes -- to make it worthwhile.
