Sparks fly when Amanda Bonner (Katharine Hepburn) decides to take on the defence of a woman on trial for shooting her husband -- a case prosecuted by A.D.A. Adam Bonner (Spencer Tracy), her husband.

It's very clever, and Amanda's increasingly ridiculous case is a fine backdrop for the wonderful interplay between Hepburn and Tracy. It's a little too clever at times, with a neatness that detracts from its best feature, the marvellous realism of the Bonner couple. An excellent film, though, and one of the few good romantic comedies looking at life after the wedding.
