Two upper-middle-class white children (Jenny Agutter, Luc Roeg) are abandoned in the Australian outback, where they are helped by an Aboriginal boy (David Gulpilil). I'm not entirely sure how to feel about an "Australian" film written and directed by Englishmen, and one with a cultural sensitivity seemingly rooted more in the myth of the noble savage than in any genuine inquiry, but it's a strange, haunting vision. I'm not usually a fan of Nicolas Roeg's dreamlike style but it's perfect here.
