You have to fight
Since I saw this last -- 2000? -- I'd managed to convince myself that it couldn't possibly be as good as I'd remembered. I was wrong, and for that I am grateful.
It's the kind of movie that's always best on the first viewing, simply for the compelling, suspenseful confusion. But unlike (e.g.) The Sixth Sense, having the surprise spoiled doesn't ruin the film. It's so very clever when you're in on the joke. That doesn't quite compensate, but it's enough. I already want to watch it again.
