Film Illiterate, wherein the proprietor records movies seen, and sporadic progress through assorted lists of the "best". Originally started after regretfully renting something forgettable for the third time. I've forgotten what, but never again! A tedious endeavour since 2005. Hello. 🙂
Introducing John Rambo
Rambo is so entrenched in popular culture that this movie is required viewing, even if it is a) quite bad, and b) starring Sylvester Stallone.
It's only in the second half that Rambo metamorphoses into his "one man army" form; the first half is actually fairly good. There's a vaguely plausible back-story and some great, largely gun-free hunting/action scenes. Colonel Trautman's arrival is the beginning of the end, though, and once Rambo gets his hands on an M60 there's nothing left but explosions.
