Film Illiterate, wherein the proprietor records movies seen, and sporadic progress through assorted lists of the "best". Originally started after regretfully renting something forgettable for the third time. I've forgotten what, but never again! A tedious endeavour since 2005. Hello. 🙂
Cashier and small-time bookie Howard Prince (Woody Allen) is recruited as the face of blacklisted writers during the McCarthy red scare era, only to fall foul himself of the Un-American Activities Committee. A strange film which mostly seems too light and superficial to adequately reflect the experience of blacklisted writers, perhaps with the poignant exception of Hecky Brown (Zero Mostel). Or maybe the script, by blacklisted writer Walter Bernstein who had used fronts hi, is to be applauded for its light touch.
