Film Illiterate, wherein the proprietor records movies seen, and sporadic progress through assorted lists of the "best". Originally started after regretfully renting something forgettable for the third time. I've forgotten what, but never again! A tedious endeavour since 2005. Hello. 🙂
If I hear "comedy" I think of pictures that go for the in-your-face risible, like obnoxious clowns choking you on balloon animals. "LAUGH! LAUGH NOW!" It's all about the jokes, sight gags, pratfalls, humorous humiliations et cetera.
Which is why it's nice to find something like A Taxing Woman, which isn't a "comedy" or a "dramedy" so much as a story. It's a relentlessly gentle, character-driven tale of tax-fraud detection -- a thriller in soft light and slow motion, heartwarming and funny almost in spite of itself.
