Film Illiterate, wherein the proprietor records movies seen, and sporadic progress through assorted lists of the "best". Originally started after regretfully renting something forgettable for the third time. I've forgotten what, but never again! A tedious endeavour since 2005. Hello. 🙂
In the wake of a global nuclear war, the crew of an American naval submarine spend some time in Australia, where life (temporarily) continues. Mystifying that this film is so enduring as a work of apocalyptic fiction given the weakness of the setting, the story and its comparative failure to evoke genuine horror. It's true that it pre-dates films like The War Game which were much more forthright in showing the outcomes of nuclear horror, but that makes it no easier to take seriously an anti-nuclear call to action displaying our post-apocalyptic future as a seaside holiday.
