Watched this again after seeing Adam Savage trash it on his YouTube channel. The only thing dated here is the occasional 80s SFX (those greenscreens, oh my). Still wonderful.

This was always my favourite Indiana Jones film, but watching on the heels of Raiders of the Lost Ark it's easy to dismiss as a bloated derivative: the Holy Grail instead of the Ark of the Covenant, Nazis again, similar action set-pieces etc.
But it's also friendlier, funnier and more wide-ranging, as much picaresque as pulp. Indie's relationship with his father adds an emotional resonance missing in Raiders.
Maybe the best adventure movie ever made.
