Film Illiterate, wherein the proprietor records movies seen, and sporadic progress through assorted lists of the "best". Originally started after regretfully renting something forgettable for the third time. I've forgotten what, but never again! A tedious endeavour since 2005. Hello. 🙂
Francesco Dellamorte (Rupert Everett), with his childlike assistant Gnaghi (François Hadji-Lazaro), manages a cemetery where the dead inexplicably revive after a week in the ground.
The film is half black comedy, packed with morbid humour. The zombie count only rises as the body count does, and boy does it rise; there are three separate romances between human and zombie.
Unfortunately, the other half is surreal dream-logic. Dellamorte falls in love a woman (Anna Falchi), then starts seeing her everywhere. There is a bizarre castration subplot and the film ends with a trip down a road to nowhere.
Like nothing I've ever seen and like nothing I ever want to see again.
