I picked up 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die this afternoon, and its review of this film concentrates on the moral ambiguity -- how is Eastwood "good"? -- and the subsequent influence on pop culture. "Camp and kitsch" is an unfair description, though, I think; it's a magnificent, cynical epic.
