It was my first Godard, and apparently a gentle introduction. (I only knew the pop-culture connection, that Taratino's "A Band Apart" production company was named in its honour.)
There's a love triangle, a crime, and playful reflexivity. Their motives are gloriously obscure, expressed more in looks than in words -- illustrated perfectly in the "minute of silence", when we watch them watching one another, when the scene is exposed as a relationship of gazes.
Maybe it will go down in my estimation once I've explored more of his work, but I thought it was magnificent. Accessible, yes, and fun, but subtle, moving, and tragically, beautifully real.
