A third viewing is always like visiting an old friend. His quirks are well known by now, and it's easy enough to make polite excuses and leave the room whenever he starts smoking that foul-smelling pipe. Or whenever Katie Holmes is on screen, whatever.
It's best when it's got an edge -- when Crane puts his mask on, for example -- but those parts really are few and far between. Trailers for The Dark Knight suggest that Ledger is all edge, all the time. Let's hope so.
Batathon, part three
This movie seemed so much worse in light of Burton's two. On balance, there's just not very much to it. All the time that might've gone to character development went to action, action, more action.
Very slick, but slickness isn't enough.
