It's a testament to Tarantino's perculiar talent that the slow dialogue sections of his ode to outrageous kung fu are, somehow, more interesting than the outrageous kung fu parts. How is it that a Japanese lesson between The Bride (Uma Thurman) and Hattori Hanzo (Sonny Chiba) is so much more interesting than a gory battle with O-Ren Ishii's (Lucy Liu) Crazy 88?
Still: brilliant.
