After all the camp of Dr. No, From Russia With Love is a much more serious Cold War espionage thriller with James Bond trappings: no moon lasers here, just double-agents and high tension. There's enough Bond to it -- gadgets, gratuitous romance -- to feel like Bond, but the whole package feels surprisingly closer to the modern "gritty" Daniel Craig era. Other than the action scenes: the final fight sequence in particular, in which 007 grapples with a middle-aged woman who struggles to kick him with a foot-mounted knife, is absolutely hilarious.
